What type of samples can you test?

The Cytokine Reference Laboratory (CRL) is capable of testing biological fluids such as serum, plasma, saliva, urine, CSF, cell lysates, as well as cell culture supernatants.


How much does each test cost?

The cost of each test is dependent on the method of testing, the number of analytes requested, and the number of samples that will be tested. Please contact the CRL for a price quote.


How should I store the samples?

After collection, aliquot and store the samples at -80°C.


How do I ship the samples? 

Samples should be packaged on dry ice and shipped overnight for next day delivery. Please make sure all samples are clearly labeled. All samples will be returned after testing unless the CRL is advised differently.


How much volume is needed?

The volume needed for testing is dependent on which analytes and methods are used. Please contact the CRL for more information.


Do you have an established reference range for each test?

The CRL has an established reference range for some cytokines. Most companies provide reference ranges specific for their kits and reagents.


How should I prepare the samples?

Does the ACPM require special considerations?

Yes, the Automated Cellular Proteomics Machine, or ACPM, requires special considerations and precise preparation of samples.

What methods do you use to test the samples?

The CRL is able to test samples by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), chemiluminescent and Luminex platforms using magnetic and non-magnetic beads.


How soon can I expect results?

The timeframe for testing samples depends on the number of samples that will be tested and the availability of the kits/reagents. On average, results are provided within 1-2 weeks of sample receipt.


How does Luminex xMAP technology work? 

Sets of magnetic microspheres are color-coded with combinations of red and infrared fluorophores. Each bead set is coated with a reagent specific to a particular bioassay, allowing the capture and detection of several specific analytes from a single sample. Optics in the compact analyzer excite the internal dyes that identify each microsphere as well as any reporter dye captured, providing quantitation of individual analytes on each microsphere. The analyzer reads many beads from each set, enabling rapid and precise results for several targets within a single sample.
